Effect of commercial apple rootstocks on some growth and biochemical characteristics of apple leaf cvs. Golden Delicious and Red Delicious
Authors
Abstract:
In order to study three vegetative rootstocks M9, M7 and MM106 on some growth and biochemical Characteristics of Apple cvs. "Golden delicious" and "Red Delicious", an experiment in factorial design based on randomized complete blocks with four replications in orchard of Mashhad agricultural research center was performed in 2021. Some characteristics: including trunk diameter, current shoot growth, leaf area, chlorophyll, phenol content, anthocyanin and antioxidant properties in leaf sample were measured. Results showed that in the interaction of rootstock and scion had a significant effect on the trunk diameter, leaf area and anthocyanin. The highest amount of anthocyanin (0.466 mg.g-1FW) at "Golden delicious" on M9 rootstock was measured. Also, "Red Delicious" on MM106 rootstock had the largest trunk diameter (47.81 cm2) and "Golden delicious" on MM106 rootstock showed the highest leaf area (31.45 cm2). The results of this study showed that MM106 rootstock by showing high levels of growth Characteristics compared to the M9 and M7 was placed in a better position. And M9 rootstock by having biochemical Characteristics was better than two other rootstocks. Cultivars on M9 rootstock with highest amount of anthocyanin was suggested as a valuable grafting compounds in terms of health benefits under Mashhad Climatic Conditions.

Quick Estimation of Apple (Red Delicious and Golden Delicious) Leaf Area and Chlorophyll Content
ABSTRACT- The evaluation of leaf area and leaf nutritional value is important for crop growth modeling and estimations of its performance. The purpose of this study was to use image processing techniques to develop an economical method to ease the assessment of nutrient status and leaf area (LA) of plants and to compare the outcomes of this method with linear models. Leaf area and leaf chloroph...

full textNondestructive Determination of ‘golden Delicious’ Apple Quality and Harvest Maturity
The usefulness of nondestructive methods for measuring chlorophyll content in skin of ‘Golden Delicious’ apples and for evaluating quality parameters and fruit maturity using optical reflectance spectrometry was studied. The fruit weight, firmness, total soluble solids content and titratable acidity during vegetation period and short-term storage at 10°C of ‘Golden Delicious’ apples were measur...
full textAntioxidant responses of Golden delicious apple under cold storage conditions. Nader Chaparzadeh* and Bahram Yavari
An understanding of biochemical events of cold storage may lead to more effective methods of preventing apple fruits from ripening and keeping their quality. This study aimed at determining the level of reduced and oxidized forms of ascorbic acid, and the activity of ascorbate peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase enzymes changes in pulp of Golden delicious apple cultivar during cold s...

sulfur (s) is an essential macronutrient influencing plant growth, nutrient efficiency, quality and health of agricultural crops. the purpose of this research was to study the effects of s rates and sources on growth and fruit quality of apple (malus domestica l.) trees of ‘golden delicious’ at west azerbaijan, iran. experiment was conducted during four seasons (2003-2007), using a factorial ra...
full textThe effect of defruiting at different stages of fruit development on leaf photosynthesis of "Golden Delicious" apple.
Net photosynthetic rates (A) of leaves on 11-year-old, field-grown apple trees (Malus domestica Borkh. cv. Golden Delicious) were measured after removal of fruits at four different stages of development. Defruiting decreased A by 21, 42, 27 and 7% when fruits were growing at 311, 293, 229 and 113 mg(DW) day(-1), respectively. Photosynthesis was inhibited more in the afternoon than in the mornin...
